It has high mechanical strength, excellent aging resistance, and low cost, but it is highly brittle and relatively heavy, requiring regular inspections.
Porcelain insulators:
The material is fired from ingredients such as kaolin, quartz, and feldspar, and its surface is often glazed.
Structure: Composed of a steel cap, porcelain component, and steel base, assembled using cement adhesive.
Features: High mechanical strength, excellent aging resistance, and low cost—but also high brittleness and significant weight, requiring regular inspections.
Glass insulators:
Material: Tempered silicate glass with a surface pre-stress design.
Structure: Similar to porcelain insulators, but the glass components are tempered.
Features: Arc-resistant, resistant to acid mist corrosion, and lighter in weight than porcelain insulators.
Composite insulators:
Materials: Core rod (glass fiber reinforced plastic), umbrella skirt (high-temperature vulcanized silicone rubber), fittings.
Structure: A core rod covered with silicone rubber umbrella skirts, connected at both ends by metal fittings.
Features: Lightweight, resistant to pollution flashovers, impact-resistant, and maintenance-free—but may degrade over long-term operation.
